Lacoste Shoes are another alternative to footwear offered by the big players in this industry such as Nike and Adidas. Being designed and manufactured by a French company, they are bound to have a totally different approach than their rather aggressive competition, offering a total European look.

The crocodile logo on a fake Elegant Men’s Lacoste ZEPHER MR2 Shoes is nearly level with the bottom stitching of the placket. However, on a genuine shirt the crocodile is half-way between the 2nd button and the stitching.
On a real logo, the claws are visible and the tail is rather thin and ends in a pointy tip. The fake logos usually have rounded paws, super-wide mouths and a fatter tail that ends in a blunt tip.

blog: Shisha ‘as harmful as cigarettes’

August 25, 2009 at 11:23 am • Posted in Uncategorized7 Comments

People who smoke shisha, or herbal tobacco, can suffer from high carbon monoxide levels, its research revealed.

It found one session of smoking shisha resulted in carbon monoxide levels at least four to five times higher than the amount produced by one cigarette.

High levels of carbon monoxide can lead to brain damage and unconsciousness.

Shisha is an Arabic water-pipe in which fruit-scented tobacco is burnt using coal, passed through an ornate water vessel and inhaled through a hose.

The Department of Health said it was difficult to know exactly how much carbon monoxide one cigarette produced, due to the differences in smokers’ inhalations.
But measuring carbon monoxide in exhaled breath showed a normal non-smoker’s level to be three parts CO per million parts of air (ppm) (less than 1% of blood not working properly), a light smoker to have 10-20 ppm (2-4% of blood not working properly), and a heavy smoker 30-40 ppm (5-7%).

The study found shisha smokers had 40-70 ppm of CO in their breath – affecting 8-12% of their blood.

Dr Hilary Wareing, director of the Tobacco Control Collaborating Centre, told the BBC’s Asian Network she was shocked by the results of the research.

“Our mouths opened at the level of harm – none of the tests we did showed anything other than shisha is hazardous to health.”

Paul Hooper, regional manager at the Department of Health, said the findings made the dangers of shisha a “major issue”.

He said many people regard shisha “as not even smoking”.

blog: Calls to reopen CIA abuse cases

August 25, 2009 at 10:58 am • Posted in Uncategorized13 Comments

The US justice department is calling for some dozen prisoner abuse cases to be reopened, the New York Times says.

The recommendation could lead to the prosecution of CIA employees and contractors over the treatment of terrorism suspects, the newspaper says.

The call comes as justice officials are set to disclose previously censored parts of a report into detainee abuse.

These show how electric drills and mock executions were used by CIA agents to elicit information, US media say.

A heavily censored version of the 2004 internal Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) report was released last year but in an almost meaningless form because so much remained classified, the BBC’s Daniel Sandford reports from Washington.

blog:Hermes Ostrich Hedgehog and Crocodile Tortoise Coinbags

August 25, 2009 at 10:54 am • Posted in Uncategorized7 Comments

Imagine walking into Hermes New York thinking you could walk away with a little coinbag. You walk into the store feeling completely out of place. ‘My shoes are merely designer brand not premium designer, my shirt is from Banana Republic not off the runway, my bag is not a Hermes’, you think to yourself. Peering into the glass counter you encounter the perfect accessory to walk away with, a beaver coin purse. Must be about $300 you think to yourself, which of course is expensive, but hey, it is Hermes. You ask the SA with conviction about the price but in your mind know you can afford it. Right? Wrong! ‘$900 she states’. You sink back into your Banana Republic top and realize you will leave with a Twilly. You think you can walk into Hermes and spend a small amount of money, think again. Your best bet at a ‘cheap’ item is a Hermes Scarf Twilly, costing you around $125.

While the Hermes Ostrich Hedgehog and Crocodile Tortoise Coinbags are the most adorable coinbags ever, the price is even more un-affordable in my world right now. Thanks to billbill for the pictures and to wongnumber for the price estimations. The estimation for the snail is around $852, though possibly upwards of $2163 seeing that it is croc. The adorable ostrich hedgehog will be similarly priced since it is also exotic. After about $600, I can not justify these, but if you can, do it- they are so amazingly cute!

blog: The Simpsons Couture

There is no better way to get the Simpsons ready for their movie debut than to put them in the August spread of Harper’s Bazaar decked out in couture clothing and accessories. The brains behind Bazaar dressed the Simpsons up in Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Lanvin, Versace, and Viktor & Rolf. I absolutely positively love the spread! It is clever and cunning and fabulously fabulous. The fact that Jean Paul Gaultier is toting Maggie in an Hermes Birkin is impeccably perfect and sheer genius. More pictures of some of the spreads below along with the runway outfit they were mimicked after!

And this infamous trip, that I will never forget, Vlad and I are leaving with the haul of a lifetime. We will reveal this week our loot, but for now you can drool over this amazing (catalog worthy I might add) picture.

blog: Jane Birkin tramples

August 25, 2009 at 10:34 am • Posted in Uncategorized16 Comments

This video is both hilarious and educating. Birkin godmother Jane Birkin gifts two young Japanese cooks with signed Hermes Birkin bags and gives them a lesson on proper Birkin care. Since Megs got hers, she’s kept it in its sleeper bag, in a dry and cool location in the house. I am confident that many Birkin owners treat their insanely expensive treasures similarly.

Apparently though, that is not how Jane feels about treating an iconic bag. While French is rusty and my Japanese non-existent, her actions are luckily clearer than any language could communicate… leaving the show host completely devastated! Enjoy the show. It had me laughing, hard.

blog: Victoria Beckham with Hermes Ostrich Birkin

Some say Victoria Beckham owns 10 Hermes Birkins. Whoever claimed this obviously has not been keeping up with Victoria and her outings because her Birkin collection exceeds 10 by far. And one of her newest editions, said to be a gift from husband David, is a 30 cm Hermes Ostrich Birkin in Violine. When I think her collection can not get more stunning, she stuns us with a pop of color against her dark dress (notice the deep purple Christian Louboutins that compliment the bag ever so perfectly). What was the occasion? David Beckham was celebrating his 100th soccer match for England with Victoria at the luxurious Baccarat restaurant in Paris. The crowd clapped for David and his accomplishment, but if I were there I would be clapping for Victoria and her outfit. The couple is one of the hottest couples in the world say many, and this past Wednesday night they showed once again what a fierce couple they are.
