Bolg:Modern cavemen-1

Cave exploration, or pot-holing, as it has come to be known, is a relatively new sport. Perhaps it is the desire for solitude or the chance of making an unexpected discovery that lures people down to the depths of the earth. It is impossible to give a satisfactory explanation for a pot-holer’s motives. For him, caves have the same peculiar fascination which high mountains have for the climber. They arouse instincts which can only be dimly understood.
Exploring really deep caves is not a task for the Sunday afternoon rambler. Such undertakings require the precise planning and foresight of military operations. It can take as long as eight days to rig up rope ladders and to establish supply bases before a descent can be made into a very deep cave. Precautions of this sort are necessary, for it is impossible to foretell the exact nature of the difficulties which will confront the pot-holer. The deepest known cave in the world is the Gouffre Berger near Grenoble. It extends to a depth of 3,723 feet. This immense chasm has been formed by an underground stream which has tunneled a course through a flaw in the rocks. The entrance to the cave is on a plateau in the Dauphine Alps. As it is only six feet across, it is barely noticeable. The cave might never have been discovered has not the entrance been spotted by the distinguished French pot-holer, Berger. Since its discovery, it has become a sort of potholers’ Everest. Though a number of descents have been made, much of it still remains to be explored.

BLOG:I feek so tired sometimes

August 22, 2009 at 11:25 am • Posted in Uncategorized1 Comment

To be the truth, I feel so tired sometimes, and I ask myself why must I do things like that? As a student, I know I should study hard and work hard, because I have so many responsibilities for myself and so many expectations from my parents. I know that I can’t let them down, I must achieve my goals, I mustn’t let myself down at least, however, I think I let myself down, I work hard but I don’t get the good results, I don’t know what’s wrong with me, I really need someone to guide me and tell me what can I do next, I almost lost my directons in such bad situation.

Sometimes, I go out for a walk near the lake and think a lot, what’s on earth I’m doing now, everyday, I go to the class to have my lessons and after class, I go to the library to read books, day after day, I’m just keeping on doing such things, it is really boring and I really want to have a change and change the way of life completely, but I can’t. Is it a fate for me? Is it for a college student? I know I’m wrong, because every college student has his or her own way to live, they may be happy, excited and something like that, thought I still have such feelings sometimes, I feel sad for most of the time. I believe that I can be a success, however, I have no confidence and I always doubt my abilities. I know I must screw up and face the reality and keep on going forward, I know that, maybe I should make a desicion to find a new and scientific way to study and convince that tomorrow is another day!!!!!!!!!

BLOG:I like watching American TV

August 22, 2009 at 11:23 am • Posted in UncategorizedNo comments yet

Of course,it’s such a good way to learn English,to be familiar with oral English, especially the American English. And on the other hand it’s funny to watch TV,I can relax from hard studing.I watch so may TV,such as and so on. I really like watching TV.
I like Gaby and Lynatte the most, frankly speaking, the women in the TV are all wise, and beatiful. But I like Gaby and Lynatte the most.Gaby is a very beatiful woman, she have her own thougts, her own way to do job.Lynatte is a very powerful woman, she can handle both her family and her job,she know how to deal with many complicated things, such as her boss, her children, her husburd’s witress and the “daughter”.She like helping people, but if she finds there’s something wired, she will tell the others to be careful.I like her.
Betty is not a goodlooking girl, but she has her dispisition, she like her family, her job,she is happy to help others, she always has her very special way to deal with the business affairs. She is a successful woman, although, she is really not a lovely girl. But these things are so superficial,we must learn to judge a person by his(her) hearts, not only the faces, the bodies. We must keep ourselves a good heart.
everyone in this TV has powerful ability,so special. But you can not know that if you don’t see the power using your own eyes.I like the show, just for fun.

Mac is a clever man,he wants to escape his brother from the fox river,so the plan goes.many prisoners escaped from Fox River, and FBI want to catch them, some of the prisoners died, waht a pity.I like the first season better, the second is not so exciting as the first season. But I still want to watch it until it ends.
OKAY,Time to sleep, hope I can improving my written English by this way.wish me good luck.and good night to myself.

BLOG:A picture exhibition about Wang Guangmei

August 22, 2009 at 11:20 am • Posted in Uncategorized2 Comments

We went to visit a picture exhibition about Wang Guangmei last Sunday afternoon. Wang Guangmei, who is the wife of President Liu Shaoqi, is a well-known woman in China both for her special experience in her life and her devotion to the charity of “Mums in poor villages” in our country.

It goes without saying that Wang Guangmei was the first female Master in physics in China, and later she chose to be a member of Communist Party. Unfortunately, she was once mistakenly put into prison for a long time. However, the 12 years’ jail life which brought great sorrow and hardship to her never knocked her down. Instead, those difficult situations made her more brave to life.
In my view, few people can have such broad mind to endure a lot of frustration in jail like her. In addition, she never complained about those unfair experiences in jail when she was released from there, but positively engaged in the charity which is called “Mums in poor villages” in her old age. She was not so much a wife of president in China as a genial grandma who exerted all her efforts to the development of Chinese charities. I knew she died in 2006, and I think she must be blessed for her kindness in heaven.

BLOG:Two cores in Houstan Rockets

August 22, 2009 at 11:13 am • Posted in Uncategorized1 Comment

What is “two cores”? In electronic business two cores means that two CPU cores with the same s in one CPU based on single semiconductor. This technology is the development trend of Computer Business. However, in Houston Rockets the two cores means YaoMing and Tmac two attack and defense cores. T his two guys are deemed as the foundation of the victory of Houston Rockets. However, in the match against Jazz on April 1st ,the two cores can’t compatible with each other ,which caused Houston Rockets was defeated by Jazz. This loss causes Houston Rockets lag behind Jazz one and a half games, which is a blow to Houston Rockets to strive for home court advantage in playoffs.

After the match, good-tempered Yao rarely lose his temper to his mates.

Why pass the ball to me? This is the first time for Yao lose his temper to Tmac in court.

We can suppose that if Yao wasn’t in court at that time, Tmac who have had got 13 minutes within 35 seconds will shot the ball with no hesitation. In that case, maybe the miracle will reappear and Houston Rockets will win the game. What a pity! There are another core Yao .As a center ,shotting the clutch sooter is not his strong points. When Tmac has no grasp to shot ,he choose to pass ball, which reflects he is lack of confident and courage to bear the responsibility . I have to say this is the difference between Tmac and Kobby, though Tmac is my idol.

BLOG:Niklas Zennstrom and Janus FriisFounders, Skype and KaZaA

August 22, 2009 at 11:09 am • Posted in Uncategorized6 Comments

It seems like Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis just can’t stop themselves. First they built the popular (though malware-addled) peer-to-peer file-sharing network KaZaA; then they followed that endeavor up by building the amazingly popular VoIP software Skype. After selling Skype to eBay (see #28) for $2.6 billion, the duo has gone back to the drawing board to produce Joost (formerly “The Venice Project”), a P2P video distribution service that is currently in private beta form. Will Zennstrom and Friis pull off a trifecta of killer apps? After being forced to settle an RIAA lawsuit over KaZaA for more than $100 million, they are negotiating directly with content providers as they prepare for Joost’s official launch.

Fox Interactive Media, owned by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation, is one of the Web’s most powerful entities, controlling 13 sites that range from uber-popular MySpace.com to controversial FoxNews.com. A complement to News Corp’s array of traditional film and television properties, this Internet-focused division ranked among the top 10 visited properties in the world in December 2006, according to comScore World Metrix. And there will probably be more to come, as Fox Interactive still has $2 billion in acquisition money to play around with, according to TechCrunch (see #30).
